If there is one thing I have learned about staying healthy,  you have to be in control of your mind. You hear about the power of positive thinking. I hate the statement because it makes you think of something spiritual. Something that is intangible. Your mind is apart of your conception of spirituality but it has so much more to do with your health. It actually controls the physiology  of your body. If your under excessive stress your mind causes your stomach to produce abnormal amouts of acid which predisposes you to ulcers. It also drives your colon to the point that you will eventually suffer from colitis. It may very well progress to more serious colon problems such as Ulcerative Colitis or Krone's Disease. My liver problem seems to only happens where it is associated with ulcerative colitis. There is truely a link between your liver and your colon. When they biopsied my liver, my colitis went crazy and became so much worse than it had ever been. After that it became obvious that there truely is a connection between all of your orgins. I believe that when you affect one organ adversely that you affect them all to some degree. I believe that your brain is the ultimate controling factor. If you are out of control of the things happening around you, you are also physiologically out of wack in your body.

There are many other medical conditions all associated with stress. One thing always seems to lead to another. A perfect example is stress induced eating disorders that lead to serious weight problems, heart problems, diabetes, etc. Stress is percipitated by not being in control of your mind. You could have not allowed yourself to go there but because you do not have control of your thought process, you allow things to get out of control. This one realization has helped me more than deit, rest, medication etc.. I make it a point that when I am feeling stress that I will not go there. I litterly verbalize in my mind that I am not going there. I often walk outside and take a couple of deep breaths and I try to prevent myself from feeling the stress. I am cotinually on guard so that I am awhere of what I am feeling and how I am responding to my enviroment.

I now have enough control that I can actually feel the healing process going on. At this point I do not feel sick at all. I am able to control my colitis attacks. I found that food was not my bigger problem, my thought process was. I have tried to become very dilligent in recognizing what I am thinking and how my body is reacting. The bottom line is if you want to protect your health, you need to control your thought proccess. Watch out what your thinking because it controls your ultimate health. It matters what you eat but it matters more what you think!
